Abstract
The innovative Smart Fertilizer Detection System in Soil is a step-in precision farming, using advanced technology to improve fertilizer application, boost crop
production, and support eco-friendly agricultural methods. In the past, many farmers lacked access to up-to-date information about their soil’s levels and overall health. This knowledge gap often leads to either fertilization, which leads to crop development and lower yields, or excessive fertilization, which can result in nutrients seeping into water sources, causing pollution and long-term degradation of soil quality. Both outcomes affect farm profitability and the sustainability of methods. The main objectives of this paper are to correlate the relationship of the resistance value between the fertilizer concentrations using copper rods and to develop a smart fertilizer detection system in soil that automatically applies fertilizer and optimizes resource utilization. The core components of the Smart Fertilizer Detection System include soil moisture sensors and pH sensors, all interfaced with an Arduino microcontroller. The data collected by these sensors is processed and displayed on a 16x2 LCD screen with an I2C interface, ensuring ease of use and immediate accessibility of information. The soil moisture sensor measures the volumetric water content in the soil, which is crucial for determining fertilizer needs. As the concentration of fertilizer in the soil increases, the soil resistivity decreases. This is due to the ions from the fertilizer, which enhance the soil's electrical conductivity. Understanding this relationship is crucial for effective soil management and optimizing crop yield in precision agriculture. The system has been built accordingly, and its performance has been tested. Therefore, the result shows that the system can run with solar energy, and the overall concept of the system can be implemented for the actual application of the fertilizer system.
