dc.description.abstract | Autonomous driving has garnered significant attention because of its ability to improve mobility of transportation, reduce traffics and reduce human errors. The rise of the demand for research and development in the autonomous driving domain have leads to the emergence of several open-source autonomous driving frameworks such as OpenPilot. OpenPilot is an open-source Level 2 autonomous driving software that was developed to run on its proprietary devices which are Comma 2 or Comma 3. However, since OpenPilot is an open-source framework, it allows the possibilities for it to be integrated and implemented into another device such as on PC or simulator. Implementing OpenPilot software on another open-source platforms like PC or open source autonomous driving simulator, holds the potential to enhance more research future efforts. Hence, this project aims to implement OpenPilot software on PC to be run on real-world environments and to an open-source autonomous driving simulator which is Car Learning to Act (CARLA). The implementation was done by using Linux as its main Operating System (OS) to run the software. The performance of the system was evaluated based on lane detection, trajectory planning, object detection and object tracking which are some of the main core functions in autonomous driving system. In this project the OpenPilot framework was successfully being implemented on PC and integrated into CARLA simulator. The successful implementation of OpenPilot on PC and CARLA simulator in this project is hoped to be able to assist individuals by providing good references to those looking for an open-source framework for autonomous driving development. | |
