Abstract
A variety of mix type have been used in road and highway design. Pavement materials such as asphalt concrete normally has design life for about 10 years and capable to play its role as a high quality pavement. However, because of repeated loading, effects of ageing due to temperature changes and ultraviolet, the design life can be shortened. To mitigate this, researches have been done by adding crumb rubber into bitumen or asphalt concrete mixture to increase the quality of the mix. Scrap tire rubber can be incorporated into asphalt paving mixes using two different methods referred to as the wet process and the dry process. This research attempts to compare performance of mix between these two methods. From the laboratory result, it can be concluded that the wet process method is better in order to produced high performance asphaltic mix. This asphalt modified bitumen using wet process, have better potential in resisting the permanent deformation and also solving the problem of cracking compared to dry process. The different between these two processes, in resilient modulus parameter is 42%. The value of wet process is always higher than the dry process. It is same with the stability value where the wet process value is higher than the dry process. The different percent between these processes are 33%.
