Abstract
Traditional cattle health management methods, which rely on visual observation and manual inspection, are prone to subjectivity and human error, resulting in delayed disease detection and increased economic losses for farmers. This study proposes a novel approach to cattle health monitoring that leverages the transformative power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and LoRaWAN technology. This study proposes an innovative approach to improving livestock healthcare monitoring by implementing a wireless system using LoRa technology. It focuses on developing an IoT hardware device that uses smart collars embedded with sensors to monitor temperature parameters important for cattle health. The project approach is to develop and deploy both hardware and software components for LoRa Transmitter act as end node and LoRa Receivers as gateway, culminating in real-world testing and deployment on a cattle farm in Sungai Petani, validating the effectiveness of the IoT cattle health smart collar monitoring system. The performance of LoRa communication was evaluated under various conditions and environments, demonstrating its suitability for specific applications, while also examining the functionality of the cattle health monitoring sensor utilizing the MLX90614 Temperature sensor and assessing the communication performance of the LoRa Transmitter and Receiver.
