Abstract
Grounded in the Design and Developmental Research (DDR) framework proposed by Richey and Klein (2007), the present study guides the design, development, and evaluation of the MySuara app. This study aims to 1) explore teacher-student interactions, 2) use the insights gained to design and develop the MySuara application, and 3) assess the developed app's usability and its impact on reciprocal interactions involving a special education teacher and a student with complex communication needs. The research employs a three-phase sequential mixed-method approach. The first qualitative phase involves semi-structured interviews with five special education teachers from Penang and Kedah. Insights from these interviews informed the design and development of the MySuara application in the second phase. Usability testing was conducted with twelve teachers and two speech therapists, who tested the app before completing surveys. The third phase tested MySuara's impact on teacher and student interactions through six intervention sessions with an experienced special education teacher and a student diagnosed with Autism.
