Abstract
Available height measurement equipment is subject to limitation and flexibility. Such limitations involve patient with amputated limbs, back problem and back disorder such as Scoliosis and Kyphosis. In the interest of improving the available height measurement equipment, this report focuses towards design of computer vision measurement system that is capable of demi-span length measurement that has relationship to height. This report covers the understanding of the measurement system, the importance of length measurement, and the available height measurement equipment and its limitation. The report also discusses about the alternative methods to height measurement, the relate methods to measure height, and the advantages and parameters consideration of computer vision method. The design process of the computer vision measurement system involves template matching with variation in reference object scale, Hue Saturation Value simple color filter, line and measurement algorithm, Hsu’s Method Algorithm, and Camera Calibration. These techniques and algorithms allow users to measure length of the human demi-span in order to determine their arm-span based on the understanding of the Leonardo’s Vitruvian Man. The computer vision program show san accuracy of 4.83 cm to 15.31 cm, with the assumption that object is in 2D plane, and the camera angle is perpendicular to the patient or sample.
