Robots and the evolution in robotics have contributed to the development of mankind making our lives easier and stress-free. Using open-source software like ROS, robot operating software, has made research and development of robots easier. In my case, ROS provides the advantage of working with many other open-source software: Amazon developer console, Fask App, and Ngrok. Integrating voice assistance to robots to instruct them to navigate to places provides a hands-free operation experience which is an evolution from normal manual control. This voice integrated voice-assistant robot provides a user-friendly experience. The voice-controlled robot can perform tasks like moving forward/backward and navigating to points. The voice commands are processed over Amazon Alexa Cloud. The main problem in developing voice assistance based robots is they have high complexity and require expertise in robotics and voice assistance language processing. Other than that, there will be latency that impacts the movement of the robot as it relies on cloud servers. Another challenge in developing voice-assisted robots is the voice assistant may not understand the context of the commands which may lead to incorrect responses from the robot. The ROS and Amazon developer console platforms provide a solution to create voice-integrated mobile robots with lesser complexity without any complex machine languages. The robotic parts also consist of getting map coordinates, localization and navigation.
