Abstract
This report represents the development of DC chopper by using Cúk topology with 5V and 20A as its desired output. The chopper (converter) circuit is basically based on the combination of Buck and Boost converter topologies. It is similar to the Buck-Boost converter, the Cúk converter provides an output voltage that is less than or greater than the input value, but the output voltage polarity is opposite to that of the input voltage. In this project, the output voltage of the proposed converter is less than its input voltage. The simulation results show, that the converter has a capability to supply the load power up to 100W with efficiency is up to 90% under ideal parameters with 0.25 ohm power resistor as its load. The switching frequency of the converter is selected to be 10 kHz so that the stress on MOSFET switches may be minimized with the usage of 0.2 duty cycle. Based on the implementation made, the output of the copper circuit is 3.58V and 11.9A respectively and thus, this have consumed for 42.6% as the chopper efficiency.
