Abstract
In today's technologically advanced era, the Internet of Things (IoT) is increasingly interconnecting applications. Rising workloads and stress often result in
overlooked childcare responsibilities, leading to incidents of children unintentionally left in cars. The objective of this project is to develop a smart car system that can identify the driver and the child car seats pressure within 10 second, to identify motion of child within 2 meter range and alert driver after 10 second through smartphone. Moreover, to measure and monitor temperature inside the car every second through mobile phone as a precaution to prevent heat stroke in children. The hardware used are ESP8266 NodeMCU, Car Seat Pressure Sensor, Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR), DHT11, ESP32 CAM, Buzzer, and LED while the software used are Arduino IDE and Blynk application. The system utilizes sensors in both the driver and child's seats to monitor occupancy. When the driver is away for more than 10 seconds while the child is still seated, an alarm is set off, and a notification is sent to the driver through the Blynk application. A PIR sensor is used to detect movements of the child, triggering an additional alert. It also featured with video monitoring and temperature measurements to enhance child safety. Experiments are conducted on parameters such as car temperature, PIR sensor range, and weight on seat sensor. Child and driver on seat and child movement are measured using binary code (1 for high, 0 for low). From the result, in case 1, when both the driver and child are present with child movement, the outputs
are 1, 1, and 1 for driver on seat, child on seat, and child movement, respectively. In case 2, when the driver is away and the child is present with child movement, the outputs 13 are 0, 1, and 1 for driver on seat, child on seat, and child movement, respectively. Conclusively, all objectives were successfully achieved.
