Nowadays, wireless system communication is an important technology for us to transfer our data with each and the other. Besides, there is a type of frequency which called Radio Frequency (RF) with a range from 3Hz to 300GHz has been used as the signal in this system. Therefore, we need a device that can help to convert such large frequencies to our desired frequencies. This device is called downconverter mixer and it is mostly used at the receiver side. Thus, in this project, the basic knowledge about downconverter mixer must be learned so that we can understand the function of this device. Besides, LT®5527 active mixer will be tested by some experiments to determine its characteristic such as output frequency, conversion gain and 1-dB compression point. Furthermore, some calculation, simulation and data analysis have been done at the same time. As the result, the obtained output frequency is satisfied with the relevant input frequency of LT®5527. Therefore, LT®5527 is a device that can be used to downconverting some larger RF frequencies to some desired and smaller IF frequencies.
