Abstract
Single board computers (SBC), which combine CPU, RAM, and I/O on a single board, are becoming increasingly popular in Internet of Things (IoT)
applications due to their cost-effectiveness and low energy consumption. However, as RISC-V is a new architecture, there are challenges to overcome in terms of compiler optimization, operating system, and debugging tools. This project aims to assess the performance of the VisionFive V2, a SCB based on RISC-V architecture, by comparing it with the widely used Arduino UNO platform. Through detailed benchmarking, this study seeks to explain the performance strengths and weaknesses of the RISC-V ISA compared to the Arduino UNO. The findings will offer developers valuable insights, validating the VisionFive V2 as a practical option for high performance applications in the IoT. Additionally, the research explores potential improvements and optimizations for RISC-V systems. The success of this project will contribute to increased awareness and trust in the VisionFive V2 Board among the community, ultimately benefiting the tech community and industry. This project can be used for ongoing innovation and development in the field of embedded systems.
