Abstract
This thesis presents the development of an Alamouti Diversity System Algorithms for wireless communications with Matlab. The development of Alamouti Diversity System is done with some algorithms such as modulation, demodulation, encoding and decoding techniques as well as the channel modelling. The performance of Bit Error Rate (BER), Peak Signal-To-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and quality of image reconstruction of the wireless system is simulated by using random data and image. Finally, the system is also compared between 2x2 MIMO and 4x4 MIMO. The developed system is a 2×2 Alamouti Diversity System with two antennas at the transmitter and receiver and 4x4 Alamouti Diversity System with four antennas at the transmitter and receiver. For simplicity, the modulation scheme for the system is a Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) with only 2 constellation points. A channel with Gaussian Noise is also developed for 2x2 and 4x4 MIMO. In the simulation, the performance of system is computed by varying the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the system is compared with each other. Simulation results on test lena image reveals that a perfect image reconstruction when the value of PSNR is higher. Therefore, the system that uses Alamouti scheme shows a better performance with the comparison between 2x2 MIMO and 4x4 MIMO.
