Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19) is a contagious pulmonary illness that is brought on by the sars-cov-2 virus. The initial case was documented in december of 2019. The symptoms can vary from being asymptomatic, mild, or severe, such as having a fever, cough, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. While many recover without needing hospitalization, some suffer more severe complications like pneumonia and blood clots after contracting the virus. Individuals aged 65 and older, as well as those with comorbidities are more susceptible to experiencing severe illness. In the present study, serum concentrations of nine pro-inflammatory cytokines (tnf-alpha, ifn-gamma, il-1alpha, il-1beta, il-12, il-17a, il-17e, il-22, and il-31), along with four anti-inflammatory cytokines (il-1ra, il-33, il-10 and il-13), two chemokines (cxcl9 and cxcl10) and interferon-induced helicase c domain-containing protein 1 (ifih1) in 180 subjects grouped as 90 controls and 90 patients presented with mild/moderate covid-19 have been analysed using elisa-based methods. Additionally, two ifih1 mutations, rs1990760 c/t and rs2111485 a/g, were found to be missense and intergenic mutations, respectively, and were detected using the arm-pcr technique.
