Abstract
The purpose of this project is to design and develop a model of robot follower using ultrasonic sensors and microcontroller. The model of robot follower is able to follow the path of the object in front of it within a distance. This project focuses on embedded electronic design which consists of selection of suitable electronic components, schematic and layout design, PCB and software coding of microcontroller. A robot follower can be implemented to automatic luggage carrier robot of a wheelchair user. A handicapped person who use wheelchair in their daily life faces difficulty when he or she needs to carry a things such as luggage when he or she is on a vacation. This model of robot follower is able to follow the nearest object in front of it. Two ultrasonic sensors are required to sense the distance between the object and robot. This information of distance will be converted to electronic signal which is readable by microcontroller. Proper decision will be made by microcontroller on the robot’s next movement by some preprogrammed algorithm. Results in this thesis shows that the objectives are being achieved.
