This study developed a stem learning module based on the engineering design process (edp-stem module) and evaluated its effectiveness in cultivating and retaining eighth-grade students’ engineering thinking (engineering decision-making thinking, engineering design thinking, engineering implementation thinking, engineering evaluation thinking and engineering optimization thinking) and engineering career interest. The edp-stem module, based on situational learning theory, constructionism theory, and social cognitive career theory was developed using the addie instructional design model and covers three scientific topics: “heat transfer”, “mechanics”, and “buoyancy”. After development, the module’s validity and reliability were verified (s-cvi = 0.925, α coefficient = 0.804), ensuring that it was well-developed. The study employed a non-equivalent groups pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design with 60 eighth-grade students participating. The experimental group (n=30) used the edp-stem module, while the control group (n=30) received conventional stem education. Three research instruments were used: the engineering thinking test paper, the engineering thinking self-assessment questionnaire, and the engineering career interest survey.
