Abstract
Finding vacant parking is a daily concern for vehicle drivers, especially during rush hours, as it can cause drivers to get irritated and ultimately lead to and traffic violation and illegal parking. At the same time, law enforcement encounter problems finding illegally parked vehicles within a short amount of time which may cause many dangers in parking areas. In this project, it mainly includes the design, implementation and development work of Smart Public Parking system with ANPR system. A public parking space lot vacancy detection system with an automatic plate number recognition system is proposed, focusing on improving parking space searching experience for car users and to ease enforcement task to curb illegal parking. In system development, the vacant parking lot detection system implemented using a NodeMCU to build a sensor network and an Android application used as a medium to provide the graphical user interface. In practical, the sensor used for parking sensor network must be reliable and operating well when detecting vehicle. To ensure the effectiveness, a number for test for parking sensor network have been done which the results proves that the system is working as desired. For the ANPR system, it used a camera module with Raspberry Pi to detect vehicle plate numbers and check whether the car is illegally parked. The result shows that the implemented system can detect a license plate and obtain the plate number. Finally, the Smart Public Parking system is implemented and hosted on Parking Management Server. It successfully publishes real-time data of
parking lot vacancy status on Smart Park mobile application and collect user registration details for user credentials.
