Abstract
The development of english argumentative writing skills (aws) and self-efficacy (se) among chinese undergraduates is critical for their academic success and future professional communication. Despite its importance, many chinese students lackawsand sein their argumentative writings. This study addresses these challenges by designing and evaluating the effectiveness of an adapted toulmin model-based (atmb) english writing module aimed at enhancing aws and se among chinese undergraduates.The study employed mixed-methods research design, combining a quasi-experimental designwith qualitative semi-structured interviews. Participants included 70 second-year undergraduates from two campuses of y university in china, divided into an experimental group (n=35) that used the atmb module and a control group (n=35) that followed traditional writing instruction. Quantitative data were collected through pre-and post-tests for aws and pre-and post-questionnairesfor se, while qualitative insights were gathered via semi-structured interviews with 10 students from the experimental group.
