Abstract
Emergency medical services (EMS) and their collaboration with emergency departments (ED) is important in saving lives during and after a crisis. EMS are dedicated to providing out-of-hospital medical care, transport to definitive care, and other medical transport to patients with illnesses and injuries. EMS in Malaysia face several challenges that hinder the delivery of effective and efficient emergency medical care, communication breakdown between EMS and ED teams when in a "dead spot” and may lead to misidentification of information. Due to the problem statement, the current phase of EMS in Malaysia and foreign country was study to propose a new framework that can improve the EMS in Malaysia. This research aims to propose new mobile app for patients that can improve patient outcomes and reduce transportation time. The app will design for user to register their personal information for future reference. When an emergency is occurred, the patient can request for an ambulance. Then, the ambulance will depart and reach at scene as fast as possible. In the result, the patient and driver can always provide the updated condition through the communication system in mobile app. The mobile app will provide the shortest route for driver to reach the scene. The developed prototype of mobile application is performed perfectly and some suggestions are given for improvements.
