The present study investigated the effect of L1 lexical stress transfer in producing English lexical stress by Yemeni EFL undergraduates who speak Hadhrami Arabic (HA). The effect of word length was also investigated in disyllabic and trisyllabic words. This study compared the use of phonetic cues in producing English lexical stress contrasts by 10 American native speakers and 69 Yemeni EFL undergraduates.
