Abstract
Energy consumption is an aspect that is dealt by every end-user as electricity has slowly become an important factor in the daily lives of many. It powers almost everything in a household, and it has become one of the basic needs required to get through the day. This trend of adopting and using electricity is on the rise and is only going to rise as the world pushes the electrification of many appliances. Thus, it is necessary for a system to be in place that can monitor and help the user to manage their energy consumption efficiently. Without the necessary system in place, the monthly expenditure for electricity will be high and at the same time, low-efficient appliances will still be in use. A real-time visualization system and an information dashboard can be developed which will be able to monitor energy consumption while updating the data on the information dashboard in real-time. Through the dashboard, a proper visualization system will be in place to present the users with the data collected through charts and appealing figures that can deliver proper insights. The voltage, current, power and energy consumption can be measured to provide insightful data for the user. This system would require both hardware and software components where the former measures the energy consumption and the latter handles the calculation of energy plus the transmission of data. An information dashboard will be created through Tableau and Google Sheets will be responsible for collecting data from the hardware side. The system is constructed starting from its circuit and put in multiple tests before observing its results. Its results and limitations are also discussed and explained in this project.
