The Nigerian consumer’s preference to purchase foreign products has posed a threat to the country’s economy. Numerous works of Nigerian literature and national dailies have reported the problem with its attendant consequences. The most worrying of these cases is its negative effects on economy which include currency depreciation, inflation, and unemployment. Therefore, it is pertinent to understand the buying behaviour of Nigerian consumers. With the support of Engel, Blackwell & Miniard (EBM) Model and Stimulus Organism Response (SOR) Theory, this study examines the factors influencing buying behaviour of local made product in Nigeria: the mediating role of consumer ethnocentrism. In this regard, the study has investigated the effects of cultural factors, social factors, personal factors and psychological factors on buying behaviour of Nigerian consumers towards the purchase of locally manufactured products in Nigeria. The study has also evaluated how “consumer ethnocentrism” mediates between cultural, social, personal, psychological, and buyer behaviour of Nigerian consumers towards the purchase of locally manufactured products.
