dc.description.abstract | As renewable energy becomes crucial, solar power stands out for its affordability and sustainability. However, the efficiency of solar panels is often reduced by soiling from dust and particles. Traditional cleaning methods are frequently inadequate, prompting the exploration of soft robotics as a solution. This research aimed to develop a bio-inspired solar panel cleaning robot using soft robotic technology, incorporating undulating gaits for enhanced mobility and evaluating the robot's performance. The methodology included designing a soft actuator with CAD modeling and silicon rubber fabrication, integrating it with an Arduino Nano microcontroller, servomotors, and a wireless transceiver for manual control. Despite successful design and testing, the cleaning process was limited by insufficient water pump pressure. Performance evaluations showed effective actuator bending without load and climbing capability up to 35°. The robot’s cleaning mechanism efficiently removed dust and dirt, showcasing the potential of bio-inspired soft robotics for maintaining solar panel efficiency and identifying areas for further improvement. | |
