dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines the implementation and efficacy of a solar tracking system in contrast to a stationary solar panel. The setting highlights the increasing need for sustainable energy sources, with a specific focus on solar energy, which is plentiful and eco-friendly. The problem statement addresses the issue of inefficiency in stationary solar panels, which do not effectively exploit sunshine exposure throughout the day. The primary objectives encompass the development of a solar tracking system, assessing its efficacy in contrast to a fixed panel, and including an online monitoring system. The process involves employing Arduino and ESP8266 to collect and transmit data, while the Blynk application allows for real-time monitoring. The test results indicate that the solar tracking system improves efficiency by approximately 12.47% compared to the static panel, leading to an average power output of 0.487 kWh instead of 0.433 kWh. This upgrade showcases the system's ability to adjust the orientation of panels in order to obtain maximum absorption of sunlight. The conclusion reaffirms the successful achievement of objectives 1 and 3, highlighting the enhanced performance of the tracking system and the successful implementation of an online monitoring system. However, the second objective was not accomplished due to insufficient data availability. The thesis suggests that printed circuit boards (PCBs) are a more advantageous option than breadboards in terms of durability, reliability, and ease of incorporation. This replacement would greatly enhance the overall durability of the project. | |
