dc.description.abstractBreast cancer is one of the leading causes of death for women. Primary prevention for development of breast cancer is impossible because the cause of this disease still remain unknown. Thus, early detection by using mammography screening procedure is the most promising method. Based on mammogram image, expert focuses on determining the existence of masses or calcifications regions in order to screen for abnormalities in breast. Due to technical and human errors, the determination of these symptoms could be missed. Hence, this project is proposed to detect the significant characteristics of tumor, foreground and background regions in mammogram image. These characteristics will then be used as attributes for fuzzy logic to segment the mammogram images into tumor, foreground and background regions. With the application of Mamdani’s fuzzy inference system, this project has been successfully investigated the fuzzy logic based segmentation technique for mammogram images.
