Abstract
This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the e-module brain-based learning approach (e-mppbo) in improving the conceptual understanding and motivation to learn physics students of skills institutions for the topic of heat and temperature. Most skills students have a weak background in science knowledge and experienced difficulty in understanding abstract concepts because they are often exposed to passive learning environments and traditional teaching methods. Misconceptions in basic physics concepts such as heat and temperature and low motivation often occur, thus hindering effective learning. In this regard, e-mppbo was designed using a digital, gamified and project-based learning approach that is in line with the principles of brain-compatible learning and the learning style of skills students. In the context of tvet, teaching usually emphasizes 70% theory and 30% practical. Therefore, this module was developed to support theoretical learning through a more interactive and student-centred method. This study used a one-group repeated-measures quasi-experimental design involving 40 diploma in manufacturing engineering students. Quantitative data collection was through pre-, post-, and post-extension tests for the heat and temperature concept understanding test (ukkhs) and the physics learning motivation questionnaire (mot-fiz), supported by qualitative data from interviews and student reflections. Although the results of the repeated measures one-way anova did not show statistically significant differences,
