Abstract
OKU is a short form for “Orang Kurang Upaya” or can be referred as disabled person. The category for disabled person is not only limited to physical but also mental. For a physically disabled person that is able to drive through a modified car, they are eligible to enjoy the perks of having their own OKU parking lot. Their parking lot are usually bigger than the normal parking size. However, this lot is often abused by normal person that is selfish and does not care about others. Many methods have been implemented to prevent this thing from happening again such as a big sign with the picture of a person on a wheelchair. This sign is not enough to prevent people from abusing the parking lot. A new method is designed for preventing this issue from happening again. A barrier concept system is used for this project. The barrier will be installed in the middle of the parking lot. The only way to access the parking lot is by using the RFID card that contains the OKU’s information. Upon successful authorization, the barrier that is initially in vertical condition will lay down flat. Hence, enable the driver to enter the parking lot. If the barrier had been lay down but there is no car detected within five minutes, it will rise back vertically. The system uses power from AC line and convert it to DC before being use in the system because all the equipment and materials operate in DC voltage. In case the power is down, the system will be back up by a battery that will bring the barrier down. Once the power is restored, the battery will be recharged and the system will use back the power from AC line. This system will be able to overcome the problems in efficient way due to the prevention in early stage.
