Abstract
The widespread ownership and use of tablet personal computers (TPCs) among Saudi primary students are expected to enable them to use them for learning, which aligns with the government and the Ministry of Education's aspiration to adopt blended learning strategies for the future of K–12 education. However, the motivations behind their acceptance of TPC as a learning tool are unclear due to limited studies in this area. Thus, addressing the gap, this study integrated the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and technology task fit (TTF) to investigate the factors influencing such TPCs usage behaviour and detect any difference in this influence considering the students’ gender. More specifically, through the integrated theoretical framework, the UTAUT2 factors (i.e., performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, and habit) and TTF factors (i.e., task characteristics, technology characteristics, and task technology fit) were proposed to influence Saudi primary student engagement through the intention and actual usage of TPCs.
