The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of supplementation with a probiotic, aqualase (thepax©) and a prebiotic, grobiotic,li)- a, respectively, on rainbow trout oncorhynchus mykiss, growth and health performance, two series of experiments were conducted to evaluate the use of these supplements in a commercial trout feed (chine, iran) against fish pathogenic bacteria, streptococcusfaecium and their effects on growth performance, haematological, immunological parameters and specific enzyme activities of rainbow trout, o. Mykiss. In both experiments, blood was sampled for haematological and immunological parameters after 4, 8 and 12 weeks, respectively of feeding. At the end of the trials, gastrointestinal tract of experimental fish were removed to assay for digestive enzymes activity and determination of the total bacterial count in the intestines. In the first experiment, five diets were prepared each comprising of a control (not supplemented); 1 and 2% g-a respectively and 0.1 and 0.2% aqualase. The diets were fed twice daily to triplicate groups of 300 o. Mykiss fingerlings (average 11.30 ± 0.21g) in concrete tanks for 12 weeks. The growth performance and survival rate were significantly higher in fish maintained on the both g-a and aq treatments compared with the control. However, final weight and survival fish fed g-a2% was the highest among all the treatments tested. Haematological parameters showed no significant difference between treatments, whereas immunological parameters consisting igm (56.10 ± 3.44 mg/ml) and lysozyme (12.27 ± 0.97 mg/ml) were found significantly higher in the fish fed with supplemented g-a2% between groups
