Abstract
The main part of this project is the prepaid system where it is built up from amicrocontroller and an EEPROM. The microcontroller inside this system acts as thebrain for the prepaid system and the calculation of the bill is done inside themicrocontroller. Signals are sent by the microcontroller to the LED, buzzer and the LCDThe input to the microcontroller is the pulses that are produced by the energymeasurement chip ADE7757. The smart card and the smart card programming systemare also parts of this project. An EEPROM has been use as a smart card and it isconnected to the prepaid system. This EEPROM need to be programmed by the smartcard programming system before it can be used as a smart card. PICBASIC PROlanguage has been used to program the microcontroller for both the prepaid system andthe smart card programming system. The microcontroller in the prepaid system has beenprogrammed to display the credit left inside the system on the LCD for every momentThe billing system in this project has been simplified. Every 8077 pulses produced fromthe ADE7757 will cause the prepaid system to deduct single cent from the credit left. This prepaid power meter has achieved the reliability of 91.40%.
