Abstract
Tourism is the third largest source of foreign exchange earnings for sri lanka, with the government consistently implementing various initiatives to boost this industry. However, in the jaffna district, attention towards tourism development only gained significant momentum starting in 2012. This study assesses the current tourism policies regarding ecotourism development . It examines the stakeholders’ role and their competing interest in facilitating the sustainable development of ecotourism. This study integrates ecotourism principles, stakeholder theory, and the triple- bottom-line concept within a framework designed to fulfill specific research objectives. This study collected data through field visits, thirty face-to-face in-depth interviews with government, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector, eight focus group discussions with community representatives, and four hundred questionnaire surveys from tourists and secondary sources. The concept of theoretical saturation is considered to ensure data richness and adequacy. To ensure the trustworthiness of the research findings, the study employs various strategies, including pilot tests and member checks. Furthermore, the researcher executes all the data collection, transcription, and translation to maintain consistency.
