Abstract
In this thesis, a study of impact crashworthiness of frontal car bumper is presented. Car bumper is mainly used as an absorber to reduce shock to the passenger if any unnecessary collision occurs. This thesis describes the use of the composite in energy absorption in the car bumper as a passenger energy absorber. Plenty impact analyses are done using numerical method ABAQUS FEM Software. The car bumper model is drawn using Solidworks. Afterward, the model is transfer into Abaqus Explicit V6.4 to conduct the analysis. The required data of the car bumper is obtained from the tensile test using instrument Instron 3367. The specimens of the experiment are prepared using the real bumper according to the ISO 3167 standard. The vehicle impact velocity is set as 30 km/h in terms of the head linear velocity. The effect of various impact angles toward the energy absorption of the car bumper will be investigated.
