Abstract
Space technology has been widely used and implemented for earth purposes. These high technologies were found to possess many good uses to the more quality and high technology consumer products. Generally, when this technology is being applied for earth purposes, several problems will be encountered and some modifications have to be made to overcome this problem especially when dealing with gravity factor. The structure that can be deployed and stowed which is known as foldable structure are generally used by satellite to increase the surface area of the solar panel using elongation principle which is known as boom. This structure has the potential to be implemented on earth due to the ability of this structure to be deployed and stowed. Initially, gravity factor is not taken into account for this design and there are several analyses that can be neglected. This research will analyze the gravity factor that reacts to the structure when it is taken to the ground. Furthermore, this research will analyze the concept and mechanism on its ability to deploy and stowed. This will take into account the forces that act on the structure to make it elongate and shortened when required. This research includes the fabrication of the prototype in order to understand about the deploy mechanism better and the concept that can be implemented for the earth purposes. The potentials of this structure to be used in several different fields such as construction, telecommunication and military have been discussed.
