Abstract
This study is to develop a silica-based tire tread compound with the hybrid carbon black/chopped aramid fiber. There are two objectives established in the study to develop the tire tread compound which to investigate the mechanical properties of various ratio of carbon black/ chopped aramid fiber of the silica-based tire tread and to investigate the mechanical and physical properties of various mastication time of natural rubber and ratio of carbon black/chopped aramid fiber of the silica-based tire tread. The research reveals that the addition of chopped aramid fiber significantly enhances the tensile properties of the tire tread compound, while the mastication time of natural rubber influences the dispersion of filler particles and the degree of crosslinking. The optimal ratio of carbon black to chopped aramid fiber is found to be around 31.00phr for carbon black and 4.00phr for aramid fiber, resulting in a compound with balanced stiffness and processibility. The optimal mastication time is determined to be 10 minutes, striking a balance between improved mechanical properties and efficient processing time.
