Abstract
Semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymers are difficult to print using Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) because of problems with shrinkage and warpage, especially in post-consumer plastic. To alter the composition of high-density polyethylene for 3D printing application. The main purpose of this research is to lower the degree of crystallization by blending filler with the material (HDPE). The parameter for extruder temperature was set at 200˚C and screw speed was 2.5 rpm in winding order to conform the standard the filament diameter of commercial filament. It shows that the most effective filler to reduce shrinkage and warpage is Talc at 30% of the mass of the material (HDPE). For future recommended, the filler content can be increase from 30% to 90%, controlled the cooling to make sure the cooling is equal at every side and create control systems that are able to react dynamically to changing printing parameters in response to feedback received in real time from monitoring systems.
