Abstract
A Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) is granted upon a manufacturer to give Customs duty exemption to all raw materials, components, machinery, and equipment used directly in the manufacturing process. This research examines the administrative process of LMW at the Kulim Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD). The current Manual Information System (MIS) requires company representatives to physically visit the Customs office and manually fill up forms for various applications, which is highly inefficient. To address these inefficiencies, an online information system (OIS) was developed using DMAIC to minimise waste. The system employed Microsoft Access for database management, integrates with a SharePoint site, and receives data from Microsoft Power Apps, the platform where LMW applicants submit forms online. Two surveys involving 50 participants, including Customs officers and company representatives, were conducted to evaluate satisfaction with the MIS and the OIS. A Paired T-test was conducted to compare the user satisfaction levels before and after the demonstration of the OIS. The results indicate high satisfaction with the OIS due to its remote accessibility, convenience of data storage, and standardisation of the process. The study concludes with 100% confidence that the user satisfaction increased after the introduction of the OIS.
