Abstract
A Series of new mercury and silver complexes bearing N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) backbone are synthesized in good yields at low-to-moderate costs. These complexes were used as carbene transfer agents to vanadium for the preparation of vanadium-NHC complexes. All compounds are characterized with the help of various spetro-analytical and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. Prepared Ag(I)NHC complexes are studied for antimicrobial and anticancer activity, which found great importance in biological and bio-catalytical research. All of the novel compounds are stable solids, non-sensitive towards air and moisture and possessing structural relevance with the existing anticancer and antidiabetic systems. In a preliminary investigation on biocides, viz., bacterial and fungal stains, few of the Ag(I)-NHC complexes show remarkable activity that evidences their anticancer nature. In addition, these complexes showed remarkably good activity against HCT 116 cancer cell lines yielding ICSO values in micromolar to nanomolar concentration. Antidiabetic screening of the vanadium complexes is underway. Saringan antidiabetic kompleks vanadium sedang dijalankan.
