dc.description.abstract | The reliability of a high performance steel belt tyre is significantly dependent on the adhesion of steel reinforcement to rubber compound. Rubber compounds used to coat on the steel belts was known as breaker compound. Rubber compounds which were filled with different dosage of silica and carbon black was prepared by using two roll mills and then were studied on cure characteristics, mechanical properties and aging properties. On cure characteristics, higher loading of carbon black had decreased the cure time and scorch time, higher value of MH, ML and crosslink density. Silica fillers have increased scorch time, cure time, S’@MH and crosslink density when used in the rubber compound. On the mechanical properties, tensile strength and pull out force (SBAT) increased as the amount of carbon black increased until a maximum value, after which the value decreased. When silica added into the rubber compound system, it significantly increased the pull out force but decreased after the optimum value achieved. After aging process, aging retention of M300 and hardness increased, lower at EB and SBAT values. Aging retention of tensile strength decreased except for those using 15phr silica. | en_US |
