Abstract
Manual analysis of an electrical grid for monitoring power quality may consume a lot of time and efforts, and sometimes lead to incorrect diagnosis. Therefore, a realtime wireless power quality monitoring system is implemented by using Arduino Yún. The major problems to deal with are voltage sag and swell. The objective of the project is to create real-time wireless power quality monitoring system by using Arduino. Also, it is to develop a power quality monitoring system by using Arduino microcontroller. This project is divided into two parts; hardware and software. Hardware part is developed to create the voltage phenomena under various conditions which are voltage sag, swell and nominal. Arduino Yún board is used as a microcontroller for the whole system. Other than that, AC voltage sensor module (ZMPT101B) is used to sense the presence of voltage in the system. Therefore, Arduino IDE 1.8.8 software is used to convert the digital signals into analog signals through C programming language. Ubidots application also will be used as a medium to store the data in Microsoft Excel wirelessly for observation and analysis purposed. In order to compare the experimental result with theoretical result, electrical grid system simulation is created by using MATLAB/Simulink software. Experimental results show that the system can successfully be monitored wirelessly and data can be acquired, transmitted, and processed accurately. In conclusion, proposed monitoring system contributes significant advantages through simple installation and networking implementation.
