dc.description.abstractLuambek is a performing art which grew, lived and spread in Minangkabau district called Pariaman'. Until today, Luambek still treads in local community. The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning and philosophy that contains in Luambek presentation in alek Nagari in Pariaman province. The method used in this study is the ethnography approach and the data collection conducted through reading resources which were written, observed, and interviewed. The best way to do this is to carry out an interview with the informants, and with the cultural members and members from Luambek , in order to support the interpretation of the investigator to bring together the Luambek meaning and philosophy. Observation (direct perception) also been done in the ceremony in an 'alek nagari' event around Pariaman district. Analysis of the data carried out by referring to the ethnography analytical method. The result obtained from this study are, Luambek known as art to strive (in opposition concept) signifies as being careful, and getting ourselves ready to meet and face the enemy, either physically, mentally or spiritually. In other words, is to unite the body with another being like being with Allah, which is based on 'confidence' on comprehension which is based on the tarekat Islamic teachings 'Syattariyah'. Luambek philosophy is something that values itself to divinity, namely Allah that is a power that can become determinant from all strengths of human. Similarly, meaning from Luambek is a sign of that chief who is the one powerful on siblings and the family members. Because of that, Luambek is claimed to become the property of the chief as a medium to clarify the authority, namely as people who performs ceremony and knowledgeable in religion by mentioning Luambek as 'Suntiang Niniak Mamak, Pamenan Anak mudo'. Therefore, Luambek cannot leave the original owner of it’s society that is the Pariaman.en_US
