Abstract
The need to produce teachers of quality in Malaysia is becoming more significance. Through the new Malaysia Education Blueprint (PPPM) 2013 – 2025, The Government has signalled its intention to ensure only quality teachers will be accepted into the teaching profession. This presents an enormous challenge to Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM). IPGM has to show that it produces quality teachers to support the vision on quality education as envisaged in the PPPM 2013 - 2025. This study was conducted to examine the alignment between the planned, the delivered, and the experienced curriculum of the Bachelor of Teaching (PISMP) programme in IPGM and to analyse how the alignment between the planned and the delivered curriculum developed and enhanced the students’ content knowledge, intellectual capital, social capital, spiritual capital, and managerial capital. The study was conducted using qualitative approach. Data was collected using document analysis and interviews. The findings of the study indicate that there is a good alignment between the planned curriculum, the delivered curriculum and the experienced curriculum. However there are areas in the planned curriculum and the delivered curriculum which need to be improved in order to maximize the alignment between the planned curriculum, the delivered curriculum, and the experienced curriculum in order to ensure new teachers produced by IPGM are equipped with the relevant quality to become quality teachers.
