dc.description.abstract | This study investigates number counting among students with mild intellectual disability. Mixed method was adopted; quantitative approach was used in testing number counting using counting procedure among students with mild intellectual disability while qualitative approach was used to carry out interview among special education teachers. The samples for this study comprise thirty students and five special education teachers. T-test was used in analyzing the quatitative data while explanatory sequential design was adopted in analyzing the qualitative data. It was revealed from the result of the study that students with mild intellectual disability showed their understanding in number counting using counting procedure and it indicates that these students are visualisers. It was also shown from the result of the study that these students have difficulty in number counting using abstraction principle, order irrelevance principle and enumeration counting instructional model. It was shown that there is no significant difference among male and female students in their counting procedure. Therefore, hypothesis of the study has to be accepted. It was also revealed from special education teachers’ perception that these students could learn number counting when applying counting procedure. | en_US |
