dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to identify the effects of teachers' participation and attitude in decision making on commitment in high performance school in Kedah and also to identify the effects of principals' support as a mediator. This study used a survey to obtain data. The sample comprised a total of 399 teachers randomly selected from SMK high performance throughout the state. The questionnaire contains 75 items and has high reliability with Cronbach Alpha 0.94. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlation and Regression Analysis. Findings showed that teacher's participation in decision making about lesson planning and teacher's attitudes have a significant relationship with loyalty and willingness to remain in I school while teacher's participation in curriculum management decision making has a significant relationship with turnover. Teachers are given the exposure of their role in decision making to form a positive attitude to participate in decision-making. In addition, a significant influence showed in teachers' participation in decision making about lesson planning and teachers' attitudes toward principals' support. The results also showed that there was a significant influence of teachers' attitudes and the principals' support on loyalty and willingness to remain in schools. This does not necessarily reflect the respondents to leave the organization. This is because of higher support from the principals to be involved in decision making. While the involvement of teachers in decision making about curriculum management and principals' support have a significant influence In turnover decision making. Interaction between teachers' participation in decision making and teacher's attitude toward principals' support, the interaction between teachers' participation in decision making and attitude of teachers and their loyalty and willingness to remain and the interaction between teachers' participation in decision making and teachers' attitude toward turnover decision making showed no significant differences. This is because teachers do not have the expected influence or autonomy in decision making related to management of school curriculum even though these areas have direct relevance to their duties and responsibilities as teachers. The findings also indicate that the principals' support to mediate partially to the effect of teachers' attitude and loyalty and willingness to remain in decision making. Continuous encouragement of the principals will affect the attitude of teachers to participate in decision making. Teachers' positive attitude will eventually affect the increased commitment. | en_US |
