dc.description.abstractBus is one of the common public transport used in Malaysia. The usage of a bus will give a lot of benefits such as will reduce the congestion and reduce carbon emission. Unfortunately, in Penang especially Nibong Tebal, the total daily ridership was so low among the youth. So, in order to identify the factors affecting youth’s perception towards Congestion Alleviation Transport (CAT) and the suggestion to increase the ridership of CAT Services, Focus Group Discussions(FGD) was used for the respondents at high institutions around the CAT Nibong Tebal’s route. This is because, in this way the answer and respond would be more clear and no limit. Three institutions were chosen to join this research were Kolej Vokasional Nibong Tebal (KVNT), Institut Latihan Perindustrian Arumugam Pillai(ILP) and Engineering Campus, Universiti Sains Malaysia(USM). A number between 10 to 20 respondents were chosen randomly from each institution..From this study, several elements were found in term of schedule, time management, accessibility, marketing strategy, safety and so on. The results obtained through this analyse from the three institutions are including the main factors affecting the ridership and the best alternative to increase the ridership of CAT Services among the youth.Finally, the findings from the study are, youths really want to try this CAT Services but lack of information and inefficient advertisement strategy limits their eagerness to use CAT Nibong Tebal.en_US
