Abstract
Nowadays, induction motors are commonly and widely used in every field of electric power such as manufacturing in industrial, petrochemical field, transportation and mining. So, the fault detection and diagnosis become very crucial and necessary in order to maintain and monitor the health of the machine to avoid any failure to happen during the processes. Accurate fault detection and diagnosis are really important and necessary for economic and safety reasons. In this project, fault detection and diagnosis conducted using simulation software. During simulation, the simulated of healthy and unhealthy induction motor model are created. A simulation model using the Simulink software displayed the graph waveform and metering the voltage signal and current signal and also electromagnetic torque using the scope inside the simulation model. The investigation on fault detection and diagnosis will be made based on the signals obtained. From result, the fault that occurred on the induction motor is detected by comparison between the signal waveform of healthy and unhealthy. When 3-phase line fault occurred, there is voltage drop in voltage signal measurement from 59.83 V to 8.564 V and current drop in stator current from 18.34 A to 6.303 A and for rotor current drop are from 4.956 A to 2.31 A. For the stator and rotor fault (adding resistance), when the fault happened the value of stator current from change 18.34 A to 13.19 A and for rotor current drop is from 4.956 A to 2.485 A. In conclusion, the outcome are help in assuring monitoring of induction motor efficiency. Early detection of any fault occurrence helps in improving motor life span.
