dc.description.abstract	The use of Geographical Information System has been widely used in this age of modern times in creating, manipulating, analysing, storing and displaying information based on its location. It is a versatile and powerful tool in managing and storing critical data such as soil investigation report and geographical information of a site. This study reviews the capabilities of GIS in storing and collating data of Soil Investigation (SI) reports of several projects done in Pulau Penang. SI reports comes in hardcopy form which is cumbersome and a waste of material resource. By using the powerful tool of GIS and presenting the SI laboratory data in digital form in an organized and easy to access format will offer a much more efficient chain of work. This data inventory management system is also versatile and can be updated and expand with newer SI reports from other location or project. This collation of data preserve and archive the data as it can be used as reference by other professionals for designing purposes.	en_US
