Energy generation through renewable sources has recently gained higher concern throughout all around the globe. However, some sort of converters system has to be employed in order for the generated power to suit the existing loads. One of the main parts within the converters is the high frequency power transformer. This thesis presents the most important initial design consideration on how to build a more reliable high frequency transformer for high power application. A pilot project of 5kW high frequency power transformer fabrications had been accomplished in order to validate the design methodology. Within an operating frequency of 25kHz, a MnZn P type material core has been utilized. Two sets of E-E geometry cores had been stacked in order to achieve the required WAAc volume. The ratio of 2: 39 turns of primary to secondary has been installed to step-up the 28V input from solar panels up to 400V output. An interleaved 0.2mm foil winding has been implemented in both primary and secondary sides to overcome the Eddy current loss while increasing the fill factor of the transformer. A whole DC-AC inverter system has been built as well in order to operate and validate the fabricated transformer. Experiments and testing showed that the transformer can was extremely compacted, overall transformer efficiency has able to reach 94%, while the overall output of the system succeeded to remain below 3% in THO.en_US
