| dc.description.abstract | This exploratory and descriptive research examines and identifies some components that furnish the characteristics of the Malay traditional landscape, focusing on the landscape in . the compound of the Malay traditional palace. Changes experienced by the country have dispelled the Malay traditional landscape that was once the landscape identity of the traditional Malays. Hence, the purpose of the research is to explore some components of the . Malay traditional landscape's identity, which have vanished, and to -further perpetuate the findings in the form of documentation. The case studies are lstana Balai Besar, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, lstana Seri Menanti, Seri Menanti, Negeri Sembilan and lstana Ampang Tinggi, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. The information is collected from measured drawings, classic Malay literatures, observations and discussions with those who are well verse with the Malay landscape. The finding of the research discusses the aspects of landscape design and identifies some components that furnish the identity of the Malay traditional landscape. It is notable from the research that the surrounding/outdoor environment plays its part in extending the traditional Malay culture. The relationship develops a traditional landscape that grows to be an identity to the Malay community. | en_US |
