Abstract
The present study was conducted to assess the knowledge and perceptions of undergraduate students of Sana’a University and Hodeidah University, as well as of the managers of private and public medical laboratories towards medical laboratory quality standards in Yemen. A cross sectional study was conducted from May 5th, 2012 to April 23rd, 2013. The study was divided into two parts. For the first part, a pre-validated self administrated questionnaire containing 23 questions on socio-demographics, knowledge and perceptions was administered to 57 and 99 consenting undergraduate students from Sana’a University, and Hodeidah University, respectively. The second part of the pre-validated questionnaire also included 37 questions on the socio-demographics, knowledge and perceptions and was administered to 181 consenting medical laboratory managers from private and public sector in Sana’a city. Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences (SPSS for Windows version 19) and Microsoft Excel were used for data analysis.
