dc.description.abstractWomen are among the vulnerable group easily infected with HIV/AIDS. Biologically and physiologically, women are two time more likely to acquire HIV compared to men. Women's problems become more complex when they are married to men who are injecting drug and having HIV/AIDS at the same time. The focus of this study is to explore how the social situation of women living with HIV/AIDS and their husbands who are injecting drug in Bandung, Indonesia. The social situations being studied include why women continue to choose IDUs as their partner, how HIV transmission occurs, the understanding of women about HIV/AIDS and how social services can be provided to women who are in this situation. This research uses a qualitative method based on case studies. A total of 12 women with HIV/AIDS have been identified for this study. Qualitative data were collected using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, direct observation, recorded live experience, eco map, and examine documents. The results showed that women with HIV/AIDS and husbands who injecting drug have low power relationships in their lives. This situation occurs because they followed the Sundanese culture system of patriarchy. This study also reported a low level of understanding about HIV/AIDS and drug addiction. With regard to socio-economic status, women depend on their husbands and families.en_US
