| dc.description.abstract | The title of this thesis is "A Study Of The Relation Between Affixes And Verbs From The Perspective of A Computer Based Teaching And Learning" and it consists of five chapters. In general, we will show and discuss the verbs criteria base on lexical and semantic meaning in chapter 1, 2 and 3. We will apply the cases discussed in chapter 1, 2 and 3 to design language computer programme in chapter 4. The conclusion of this thesis will be discussed in chapter 5. The objective for this study is to observe the semantic criteria of verbs with their affixes. The writer will observe some of the thematic roles such as agent, patient, theme, and others. In those cases, we will choose some Malay verbs and their affixes like ber-, di-, meN-, ter-, ke- ... -an, meN- ... -i, meN- ... -kan to be analysed. In subtopic 2.3 to 2.9, we will show the concepts of motional vebs, nonmotional verbs, incorporation, implied and deletion to solve some misunderstandings phrase and non-phrase transformations and also deletions in Malay langguage. From the methodology point of views, we will use the WordSmith Program, Malay Concordance Project and Prolog to complete this thesis. We will show how this programme works and how it can be utilized in preparing the data and in language programming. In addition, we will combine some of the language methodologies and theories to complete this thesis. The selected theories designed for this thesis are Lexical Structure by Jeffrey S. Gruber (1976), Language Theory byNoam Chomsky (1957,1956,1970,1981), the Psychology of the Child and Learning Theory by Jean Piaget (1969,1971) and A Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning were used by Richard E. Mayer (1981). This thesis has shown some interesting findings when the computer base assisted design can be applying in to the Malay Language Studies. The significant discovery of this study is that it managed to solve the problems of deletion, incorporation and word transformation in Malay Language. | en_US |
